THE EXPONENTIAL DIET

The diet starts with a single grain of rice, day one
Cooking a preference no real need.
Day two on waking hunger bites
Two grains of rice a meagre sustenance
Day three and four grains of rice
A detox starts it cruel dance
Day five eight grains allowed during the day
The mind and body increasingly elsewhere
Day six and sixteen grains cannot prepare
The dieter from the fire starting to burn within
Day seven to ten the dieter must live on will alone
Hardly able to count out the daily grains
Day eleven a generous five hundred and twelve grains
Fully a quarter portion of rice to consume
Day twelve and a half portion is not enough
But the dieter starts to sense the dawn
Day thirteen and a full portion of rice
A point of equilibrium for the body and soul
Day fourteen and a choice to make
Two bowls of rice or equivalent
Day fifteen and although now reluctant
Its pizza, fish and chips, anything from the menu

Day sixteen although it’s a battle
Three good meals that’s for one single day normality
Day seventeen and although the emaciated body has had enough
The exponential diet requires eating normally and then again
​
Day nineteen, the hard but penultimate day
Munch steadily and then tomorrow the promised land
​
Day twenty, the diet ends, no need to order from the menu
The dieter can order the entire menu celebrate, Eldorado
​
