Buddy can you spare a rhyme

The destitute poet dwells on the street

Amid a panorama of passing feet

One who has listened to the voices in his head

And on a beautiful but cruel path been led

A poet who has thrown the literary dice

And finds that he has to pay the price

Sat opposite an internet cafe

He dreams of a keyboard to bash

On good days he is thrown a word or two

With such crumbs he must make do

The pavement is now his page

To chalk his knowing and his rage

The destitute poet dwells on the street

The poet that sometimes we will meet

Buddy can you spare a rhyme
