Dear reader,

Of all the toy animals it is possibly the teddy bear that is closest to children, and indeed this closeness and affection is retained by many adults, to a lesser or greater degree.

These bears serve to play, to comfort, to provide counsel, and friendship, and with this become an integral part of family life, often to the point of being viewed as sentient beings, with lives of their own.
