Punctuation...

In the Fitzroy books, why is punctuation confined to commas?
Good question…
Well, the first Fitzroy works were conceived as poems
I though they worked well without punctuation
Then they morphed into stories, but I maintained the poetic style
I liked the punchy style that didn’t need to conform to norms of grammar and punctuation
Another factor was that I had originally the idea that the stories were written by bears who did not use much in the way of punctuation
So, now the project has become larger and more defined I need to maintain a consistent approach
I think consistency of feel and style is very important in writing, but I will talk about that another time
I am personally pleased with the results, although now I’m pretty well constrained in having to maintain this style for seven volumes
So, what started out as a free and easy way of writing has now become a necessary discipline to ensure consistency
It also serves to keep me on track
If it starts getting wordy with long sentences, then I need to rein it in
As this is my first attempt at a substantial written work it really is a voyage of discovery
The work begins to live and breathe and have a life of its own
The monster has been created and now I have to control it…
