Where I am right now…

I like to view artistic activities as projects

When I say projects, they may be small or grand

But it’s a way of compartmentalisation

Reining in the creative beast

It gives me a framework to work within

To potentially link each small piece of work or idea together

Either that or I can say an idea does not fit and will be part of a different project

And, just because the Fitzroy project is my main focus, it doesn’t mean I cannot develop other ideas

It’s always useful to have other things slow cooking in the background

So, where am I now

Well right now, I expect to have enough stories written to complete the seven books, soon

Book 1 and 2 are published

Book 3 is in final editing phase

Book 4 is to be reviewed and signed off for final editing

So, what does this mean for the project

It means that although the stories are not strictly chronological, they do have the effect of fixing a beginning and start of the middle phase

I now have to work with what is fixed to continue to create a coherent middle phase and then end phase

I use coherent to mean, in a way that works and maintains the feel and character of the project

So, the early freedom is beginning to disappear, and I am dictated to by the characters, the themes, and the style

To counter this loss of freedom

I have gone back to simply generating stories, whatever comes to mind

They might fit, they might not

My imagination is being allowed to roam

And when I have enough material

I will think about how it fits together

Really just seeing where the process takes me

On a journey, destination unknown…
